The Mighty Quinn

Quinnie

Quinnie was a normal 2 year old boy,  who loved to play with his toys and his big sister Maggie

Diagnosis

On February 10th, he was blowing out the candles on his Monsters Inc birthday cake and turning 3, on February 11 he was receiving a diagnosis of having a brain tumor, called: Medulloblaastoma.  He would spend the next week having an 8 hour surgery to remove a majority of the tumor which was the size of a lime sitting on his brain stem and blocking the fluid from draining from his brain.  He had a drain put in to alleviate pressure and would soon begin treatment.

Treatment

Quinn has gone through 3 round of chemotherapy, followed by 1 round of extremely high dose chemotherapy in preparation for his stem cell transplant.  During this last round he needed showers every 4 hours to wash the chemotherapy off from his body that was sweat out, even at 4 in the morning.  This chemotherapy wiped Quinn of all vaccines he has had to date, as well as any and all immunity he was born with.  For this reason, he spent a month in the hospital under isolation, he is continuing this isolation and is into his 3rd month at home on isolation.  His window, or "Quinn-dow" has become his lifeline to the world, where he can play and see children and just be a child.
